After winning the Champions League and the national league, the water polo team of Ferencvárosi Torna Club played against the European Cup holder Marseille for the LEN Super Cup.
In the 4th minute, Younger scored and we took the lead (1-0), after that, the French team was able to turn the scoreline in their favor, Camarasa, and Durdic scored (1-2). Before the end of the first period, Fountoulis evened the scoreline (2-2).
The second period consisted of a lot of attacking, but unfortunately, our side couldn't have an advantage. Marseille took the lead again and was leading 5-2, then 8-4 at the end of the second quarter.
We were more effective in the 3rd period: Zalánki, Varga, Jaksic and Constantin-Bicari were all able to find the net and we only had a one-goal difference before the last quarter.
In the 4th period, we evened the scoreline twice – thanks to Varga and Constantin-Bicari – and then we also took the lead with Younger's goal (11-10). Fountoulis found the net three more times, the French were able to score one last goal, but that wasn't enough, we've won over them.
