Ferencváros' thirty-five-time champion men's football team visited Tiszafüred in the fourth round of the MOL Hungarian Cup. Our team had beaten Budafok in the previous round, thanks to a double from Saldanha and a goal from Abu Fani, who made his debut on that occasion.
In a sold-out match with a great atmosphere, head coach Pascal Jansen voted for the starting line-up of Varga Ádám - Botka, Szalai, Knoester, Pászka - Tóth A., Ben Romdhane, Zachariassen - Gruber, Varga B., Kehinde.
First half
Our team took the kick-off and dictated the pace from the first minute. At the end of the second minute, Alex Tóth shot from 18 meters, his powerful shot was blocked by the home goalkeeper. Four minutes later, Zachariassen put himself in position but his shot hit the right post. In the 10th minute, Tiszafüred had a free kick from the corner of the penalty area, but the ball towards the short bottom corner slipped past the goal. Shortly afterwards Ben Romdhane crossed from the right wing, his centre was met by Tajti.
In the 17th minute, Pászka had a go, his long-range shot bouncing off the block and to a corner. Four minutes later, Tajti again made a great save, this time on Barnabás Varga's attempt. In the 24th minute, the home side found the goal as Mácsai's shot was saved by Ádám Varga. Nearing the end of the half, Szalai cleared with his head after a quick counterattack, the ball flew dangerously but did not find the net.
Second half
In the 48th minute a bitter surprise arrived, the home team took the lead (1-0) with Kalmár's goal. Fortunately, our team reacted quickly, in the 51st minute Zachariassen equalised (1-1), and four minutes later he scored again, so we had the lead (1-2). In the 65th minute our Norwegian legionnaire came close to a hat-trick, but he shot over the goal from close range.
In the 72nd minute, Maiga set up Pászka, who shot from a slightly sharp angle, but Tajti saved well. In the 80th minute, substitute Saldanha showed some beautiful skill and shot at the end of his solo run, his attempt hitting the post. In the minutes of extra time, the home team went forward for an equaliser, but our defence was on the mark. Kehinde shot at the end but was blocked by Bényei.
In the end our team qualified for the MOL Hungarian Cup, where we will face ETO FC Györ next.
