After the midweek cup win against Tiszafüred, our thirty-five time Hungarian men's football champion team hosted Debrecen in the 12th round of the OTP Bank Liga. Before the meeting, FTC President Gábor Kubatov presented the HSA Player of the Month award to October's best player, Dénes Dibusz.
The stadium also had some special guests before kick-off, as the Groupama Arena crowd welcomed our men's water polo team, who won the European Super Cup in early October.
Head coach Pascal Jansen voted today for the starting line-up of Dibusz - Makreckis, Cissé, Gartenmann, Civic - Abu Fani, Maiga - Traoré, Zachariassen, Kady - Varga Barnabás.
First half
We started the match and the first situations were created also by us. In the fifth minute, Zachariassen's header was saved by Megyeri, then Kady tried to surprise the visitors' keeper, but the flat free kick just missed the goal. Shortly afterwards, Kady made several attempts and in the 15th minute, our Brazilian striker gave Barnabas Varga a fine ball to shoot from close range, but Megyeri saved with skill.
Ten minutes later, Zachariassen had several chances, but first he shot into the block, and then the visitors' defenders saved to a corner. In the 33rd minute, Cissé made a good pass but Barnabás Varga was unable to head in. In the second half, DVSC had another serious chance, Stojkovic shot from the corner of the penalty area, but the ball missed the target.
Second half
The first quarter of an hour of the second half was mostly uneventful, in the 57th minute Pascal Jansen made two substitutions to update the team, Abu Fani was replaced by Rommens and Zachariassen by Saldahna. The latter was immediately on target for Debrecen, Civic's long-range shot bounced off from Megyeri and the Brazilian striker slotted the ball into the net from close range, but it was an offside. Then in the 61st minute we broke the ice: Traoré crossed the ball, Kady's shot was blocked, then the ball was collected by Makrekcis, he ran on the baseline and curled the ball perfectly to Traoré who nodded into the net (1-0).
However, the lead didn't last long, in the 69th minute Maiga got a touch on a long range shot, the ball bounced to Bárány who equalised (1-1). Five minutes later we made another substitution, Kady was replaced by Ben Romdhane. In the 81st minute, the visitors had a free kick, the cross found Dreskovic, who headed into our goal, and by this, the visitors equalised (1-2). Two minutes later, Gruber came on and our young striker didn't stay idle for long, equalising with a beautiful long-range shot in the 85th minute, scoring his first goal for Ferencváros (2-2).
The result remained the same after that, and our football team will next play in Hamburg on Thursday, November 7, in a UEFA Europa League match against Dinamo Kiev.
