We fought our way through in extra time!
After 3-3 in normal time, Zachariassen's goal in extra time was the winner in the Cup.

After a 3-1 win against Fehérvár, our 35-time Hungarian champion and 24-time MMK-winner men's football team continued their MOL Hungarian Cup campaign, playing ETO FC Győr in the round of 16.

Our Irish head coach Robbie Keane voted today for the starting line-up of Gróf - Makreckis, Cissé, Gartenmann, Civic - Tóth A., Júlio Romao - Traoré, Ben Romdhane, Csirkovics - Varga B. Before the match, the draw for the next round was made, where it was decided that the winner of the match will face Újpest in the quarter-finals.

First half

ETO had the first shot on goal, but Rajmund Tóth's attempt was missed. In the 11th minute, ETO then took the lead: after Bumba's pass, Stefulj crossed the ball into the middle, where Gavrics took the ball and shot into Gróf's goal from 10 metres (1-0).

In the 20th minute, we came close to equalising: after a corner from Alex Tóth, Cissé headed towards goal, but Petrás saved with great skill and Ben Romdhane shot the rebound wide. In the 25th minute, Alex Tóth gave a great pass to Barnabas Varga, who was in front of Petras but could not convert the chance. Two minutes later, Barnabas Varga was in position again, he made a fine shot on goal, but his attempt missed.

We came close to scoring again soon after, but Civic's bouncing shot hit the post. In the 30th minute, Gartenmann scored from a nice deflection, but again the goalpost saved Győr. Three minutes later we finally scored! In an attempt to save a crossing Petrás pushed the ball to Ben Romdhane and the Tunisian shot into the centre of the goal (1-1)!

In the 37th minute, Heitor fouled Barnabas Varga inside the penalty area. The penalty was taken by the victim and he ruthlessly and powerfully slotted the ball into the top right corner, giving us the lead (1-2)! In the 44th minute we scored again, but Traoré's goal was disallowed for handball by referee Csonka.

Second half

Győr made two substitutions in the break, with Bitri replacing Heitor and Marku replacing Ouro. In the 50th minute, Barnabás Varga stepped out of the defenders and calmly crossed into Petrás' goal, thus doubling the score (1-3)! Two minutes later, Vitális scored to bring ETO within one goal (2-3). In the 54th minute, Robbie Keane replaced Civic with Ramírez. In the same minute, Júlio Romao headed into his own goal to equalise for Győr (3-3).

In the 61st minute our head coach made two substitutions: Saldanha replaced Barnabás Varga and Kehinde came on for Traoré.

Two minutes later referee Csonka gave a yellow card to Bitri. In the 68th minute, Győr defender Stefulj shot at goal, but Gróf made a fine save. Two minutes later, Krpic received a yellow card.

In the 75th minute, Sahli came on for Gavrics. In the 78th minute Benbouali was shown a yellow card. Our head coach also made two substitutions, with Joseph replacing Csirkovic and Zachariassen replacing Ben Romdhane. In the 83rd minute, Zachariassen, who came on as a substitute, was in position, but Petrás saved. In the minutes of extra time, Győr threatened from a free kick from distance, but Gróf saved confidently, and a minute later Sahli's bomb missed the goal.

No decision was taken in normal time, and the game went into two 15-minute extra time periods.

Extra time

Our team created the first chance in the extra time: in the 93rd minute Saldanha shot, but Petrás saved. Shortly afterwards, Joseph was in a shooting position, but the goalkeeper of Győr saved again.

In the 98th minute, ETO made a substitution: Beqja came on for Rajmund Tóth. In the 100th minute, Alex Tóth took a free-kick and curled it dangerously inside the Győr box, but the ball left the baseline with no one touching it. In the 102nd minute, Saldanha was in a great position but shot over. In the 108th minute Anton was shown a yellow card for Győr. In the 111th minute Alex Tóth also received a yellow card. A minute later ETO made a substitution: Benbouali was replaced by Njie.

In the 113th minute Kehinde shot dangerously but missed the goal. Three minutes later, Bitri's free-kick went to Saldanha, who passed to Alex Tóth, who found Zachariassen, who shot into the empty goal (3-4)! A very decisive moment for the match in the last minutes.

No more goals were scored, so our men's football team fought their way to victory in extra time, and qualified for the quarter-finals of the MOL Hungarian Cup, where they will face their arch-rivals Újpest. The match will take place at the Groupama Arena.
