Our 35-time Hungarian men's football champions recorded a historic victory on Thursday, beating Ukraine's Dinamo Kiev 4-0 in Hamburg in the fourth round of the UEFA Europa League main round. This was followed by Sunday's OTP Bank Liga match against Kecskemét, where head coach Pascal Jansen picked the starting line-up of Dibusz - Makreckis, Botka, Gartenmann, Ramírez - Zachariassen, Rommens, Abu Fani, Civic - Kady - Varga Barnabás.
First half
The home team started the match, our team came out in green and white stripes. In the fourth minute, Barnabás Varga was brought down inside the Kecskemét penalty area, but referee Mihály Káprály saw no foul. Shortly afterwards Kady's shot was saved by Kersák. In the seventh minute, Zachariassen needed treatment after a cross, but the Norwegian player was able to continue the game. In the 11th minute, Abu Fani threatened the Kecskemét goal, but his shot went over.
In the 18th minute Rommens shot from distance but missed the target. In the 20th minute, Barnabás Varga had a header from a Makreckis cross, but Kersák saved. Then, in the 23rd minute Botka made a great save, Pálinkás tried to head the ball towards our goal but our defender stopped him.
In the 32nd minute, Zachariassen was tackled by the Kecskemét defenders, even though our Norwegian player had already swung his legs for a shot. After that Gartenmann made two nice tackles. In the 37th minute, Kecskemét threatened with a nice shot by Kovács. In the 45th minute, Kady launched Civic, but his pass did not reach Barnabás Varga in the middle and we ended the first half at 0-0.
Second half
The second half started with a great Kecskemét situation, Lukács shot over after Zeke's pass. In the 52nd minute we came close to taking the lead: Civic centered, Varga shot, but Kersák saved to the bar. In the 63rd minute, Kady received his second yellow card and we were down to ten men. In the 65th minute Lukács' effort ended up in the side netting. After that, Pascal Jansen tried to freshen up our game with a triple substitution, with Maiga, Saldanha and Kehinde coming on, and Abu Fani, Zachariassen and Barnabás Varga finishing the game.
A chain of situations followed: Lukács came on the left flank in the 70th minute, but his shot went over. A minute later Zeke shot over in a similar situation. In the 73rd minute, substitute Saldanha threatened from a free-kick but Kersák saved. Kaján and Traoré also came on in the 80th minute, while Makreckis and Ramírez left the pitch.
Finally, the ice broke and in the 85th minute, Kehinde stepped out of the defenders, passed the ball past the Kecskemét goalkeeper and shot into the empty goal to give us the lead (0-1)! The result then remained the same and our men's football team beat Kecskemét!
