Victory in the last round by Varga's goal
Ferencváros won 1-0 away to Nyíregyháza in the last match of 2024.

Our 35-times champion men's football team played their last match of 2024 at Nyíregyháza in the 17th round of the championship. Head coach Pascal Jansen started with Dibusz - Makreckis, Cissé, Gartenmann, Raul Gustavo, Pászka - Maiga, Rommens, Kady - Pesics, Varga B.

First half

In the third minute, Varga received a great start from Pesics, the shot hit the post, but the flag was waved, it was an offside. On the other side, after a corner, Dibusz had to clear a dangerous ball from the goal line after Alaxai's header, and then our captain had to reach for Toma's long-range shot. Shortly afterwards, Raul Gustavo's header missed the home goal.

In the 31st minute, Pesic was blocked at the last moment by the Nyíregyháza defence after a great launch. Then, another poor shot from the home side was saved by Dibusz, and the teams went into the break 0-0.

Second half

The second half started with a great shot by Pászka, but Tóth saved. After that, the home side made several attempts on goal, but no serious chances were created. In the 60th minute, we made three substitutions, Kristoffer Zachariassen, Adama Traoré and Tosin Kehinde replacing Kady, Pesics and Makreckis. Ten minutes later a home side-netting raised the volume in the stadium. In the 83rd minute, Varga headed the ball to Kehinde, who moved up the flank and crossed to Varga on the left, who headed home to give our team the lead (0-1)! After the goal Szalai replaced Pászka. In the minutes of extra time, Traoré gave the ball to Kehinde, but failed to finish the action.

Our team won the autumn season finale against Nyíregyháza with a three-point header by Barnabás Varga! The OTP Bank Liga 2024/25 will continue in February.
