On Sunday, 14 April, our 34-time champion men's football team played as guests of Zalaegerszeg in the 28th round of the championship. Our team started with Dibusz - Makreckis, Botka, Abena, Ramírez - Maiga, Abu Fani, Katona B. - Traoré, Zachariassen - Kodro. Before the match, the Fradi crowd sent a message with a banner to our head coach Dejan Stankovic, who was travelling home to Milan after his eldest son was hospitalised. Leandro de Almedia, our former player and assistant coach filled Stankovic' seat today on the bench.
First half
The game started with Fradi dominating the field, and in the 15th minute we took the lead with Adama Traoré's header (0-1). ZTE tried to assert themselves mainly from counterattacks, but our defence usually blocked them, but in the 20th minute Dibusz had to save Mim's shot. At the other end we beat ZTE with our own weapon: we led a great counter attack and Kenan Kodro spun the ball over the outrushing Dombó, scoring his first league goal for our team (0-2). Then, Croizet's shot was just wide in front of our goal. In the 37th minute Kodro found the net again, but our joy was premature, the flag waved for offisde. In the dying minutes of the first half, Mance shot at goal from about 15 meters, but Dibusz easily saved the ball. There were no more chances and we went into the break with a two-goal lead.
Second half
We made two substitutions in the 55th minute. Krisztián Lisztes and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane arrived to replace Traoré and Abu Fani. Soon after, the video referee reviewed a possible home penalty but saw no foul. In the 73rd minute, hope shone for the home side after Antonio Mance scored (1-2). Barnabás Varga came on for the final stages of the match, replacing Kodro, while Edgar Sevikjan came on for Zachariassen. With eight minutes of normal time remaining, Botka blocked a dangerous shot and a free-kick was headed over the bar. Lóránd Pászka came on in the 86th minute, replacing Zachariassen. Lisztes then shot wide. In the 88th minute ZTE equalised by Mance (2-2). The referee reviewed the goal situation but saw no foul and the goal remained valid. This was not the end of the game though, as in extra time, Ben Romdhane scored from a header by Barnabás Varga, after a cross from the right (2-3)!
No more goals were scored and we increased our lead in the table to 14 points. We could even win the title in the match against Kisvárda on 20 April!
