After the signing of Habib Maiga on Thursday, another new arrival has been announced: the Bosnian striker Kenan Kodro, the OTP Bank League's current top scorer with 11 goals, will continue his career at Ferencváros! Below we present the career of the player signed from Fehérvár FC.
Biography
Kenan Kodro was born on 19 August 1993 in Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain. Originally from a Bosnian family, Kodro was introduced to the basics of football on Spanish soil, signing for Real Sociedad youth team in 2010 after playing for Antiguoko. After a loan spell with the Basque U19 and B teams, Kodro's next stop in his career was CD Lagun Onak and then Osasuna permanently in 2014. At Osasuna, Kodro made 28 top-flight appearances and 52 second-division appearances, before joining German side FSV Mainz from July 2017 until February 2018. From Germany, he first moved to Swiss club Grasshoppers and then to Danish club FC Köbenhavn, before being transferred from the Danes to Spanish first division side Athletic Bilbao on 31 January 2019. Three years ago, in January 2021, another loan move followed, Real Valladolid took Kodro, but in June the loan period expired, after which FC Fehérvár signed the Bosnian player.
Kodro, who can also play as a left winger or striker, has scored 44 goals in 88 appearances for Fehérvár over the years, while also providing 9 assists. He scored twice against us in the Fehérvár-FTC championship match on 6 August 2023, when we won 5-3. In the current season, he has also scored against Puskás Akadémia, Kisvárda, DVTK, Mezőkövesd and Paks, and is the current top scorer in the league with 11 goals.
Our newest footballer has made 15 appearances for Bosnia and Herzegovina national side, scoring two goals. He made his debut in the national team in 2017 and was expected to feature in the recent European Championship qualifying campaign. However, he recently turned down the national team after the dismissal of his father Meho Kodro (the former Barcelona striker was national team captain).
Kodro's arrival also means that Barnabas Varga, the top scorer of the previous season in the OTP Bank League and the current top scorer in the league, is now part of the Ferencváros squad.
