The 34-time champion men's football team played its third match within a week, as it hosted Kecskemét in the Groupama Arena after last week's ECL group match against Csukaricski and Sunday's championship game against Kisvárda. To replace the postponed first round match of the OTP Bank League, head coach Dejan Sztankovics sent the starting eleven composed of Dibusz - Makreckis, Wingo, Abena, Ramírez - Ben Romdhane, Sigér - Zachariassen, Marquinhos, Lisztes - Pesics on the pitch.
First half
The first serious opportunity came in front of the visiting fans, Dénes Dibusz had to punch away a free kick from the right. A few minutes later, KTE threatened again, but Iyinbor's header missed the target. In the tenth minute, Ramírez made a big save, as he cut out the opponent's attempt from the goal line.
Our team's first really big chance had to wait until the 25th minute, Zachariassen arrived at Ramírez's corner, Bence Varga pushed the header of our Norwegian player from under the crossbar. This woke the lads up, our team clearly took the initiative, but still failed to score. First, Sigér's bomb whizzed past the right post, then Pesics tried to shoot, but Varga was in his place. Three minutes before the break, Zachariassen shot again, but missed the goal.
Second half
Ours started the second half off better, in the 50th minute, after a corner, Wingo shot at the target, but Varga made a brave save. Soon after, our defender moved forward again, his pass was in front of Lisztes, but our young attacker shot over the goal. In the 57th minute, Dejan Sztankovics made two changes, Lisztes was replaced by Barnabás Varga, while Ben Romdhane was replaced by Abu Fani. In the 72nd minute, we finally managed to take the lead, Dávid Sigér headed into the opponent's net (1-0).
Seven minutes later, Abu Fani had an effort, then Marquinhos' shot was sent away for a corner. Three minutes before the end of regular time, our team could have doubled its advantage, Marquinhos shook off his defenders on the right wing, then passed to Zachariassen, but his pass turned out to be too long.
Our men's football team beat Kecskemét 1-0 in the postponed first round of the championship, and with that Ferencváros is at the top of the table!
