Our 35-time Hungarian champion men's football team hosted Újpest again in the Groupama Arena after Wednesday's Cup Victory, but this time in the 26th round of the NB I. Robbie Keane voted today for the starting line-up of Dibusz - Gartenmann, Cissé, Szalai - Kaján, Keita, Maiga, Tóth, Traoré - Varga B., Pesics. Before the starting whistle, Alex Tóth was applauded by the fans as he received the HSA Player of the Month award for the second time in a row. During the pre-match warm-up, referee Dr. Bence Csonka was injured and Balázs Berke took over.
First half
The first ten minutes passed without any real chances, with both teams only getting as far as the opponents' penalty area. Then in the 18th minute, Alex Tóth curved in a free kick, the ball was deflected back across the goal, and Habib Maiga took a shot on goal and scored a powerful goal to give our team the lead (1-0)! Six minutes later Pesic was in a great position, but he had already made a foul. In the 28th minute, Cissé started forward and gave a great pass to Barnabas Varga, who finished confidently, but the goal was disallowed because VAR noticed an offside. However, we soon managed to double the lead at the end of the half: Alex Tóth's cross was headed into the net by Alekszandar Pesic (2-0)!
Second half
In the 51st minute, a shot was fired at our goal, but it rebounded. Six minutes later we made our first substitution, Keita was replaced by Abu Fani. In the 67th minute, Tóth sent in a corner but Traoré headed wide. Four minutes later, Beridze shot just wide of our goal. Another flat shot followed, this time from Gergényi, Dénes Dibusz saved to a corner with his foot. In the 77th minute Pesic was replaced by Matheus Saldanha. In the 83rd minute Adama Traoré came off, Cristian Ramírez came on. There were no more great chances, and we won by two goals against our rivals!
