The Fradi-family mourns. In the 92nd year of his life, dr. Springer Miklós, grandson of the founder president of Ferencvárosi Torna Club dr. Springer Ferenc, club board member and honorary president of the FTC Baráti Kör passed away.
Dr. Springer Miklós was born in Budapest, on the 31st of January in 1928, he grew up around the football team of Ferencváros, since his father dr. Springer Ferenc Jr. was the president of the professional football team until his death in 1938.
Springer Miklós chose a legal career, following the family traditions, but sports was always close to him. He played ice hockey, handball and also football.
He had been a devoted fan of Ferencváros throughout his whole life, he was almost imprisoned, for shouting „Hajrá, Fradi!“ in the 1950s, during the Kinizsi era. He was present in 1956 when Ferencvárosi Torna Club was rebuilt, and reacquired its original name and colors.
Dr. Springer Miklós was also a member of the board of Ferencvárosi Torna Club and a founding member of FTC Baráti Kör. After the death of Rudas Ferenc in 2016 he became the president, then the honorary president of FTC Baráti Kör.
In recent years too, Dr. Springer Miklós has formulated opinions on important issues regarding Ferencváros. He was never afraid to share his straight, gritty thoughts. To show how he thought of his beloved club, it’s great to recall his speech in 2014.
"As the oldest member of the presidency, I have always had a strong emphasis on highlighting the family nature of this club," he said.
The term „Fradi-family" could not have been a platitude for him, through his father and grandfather, he truly embraced fradism, he was happy to invite all the fans who were rooting for the club’s successes into this family circle.
For Springer Miklós FTC was everything, it was a huge aspect of his life. FTC regards dr. Springer Miklós as their own deceased.
Rest in peace, we will never forget you!
