A CLOSE CALL, BUT ENDED IN A DRAW
Ferencváros led by two, but eventually drew 2-2 away to Fiorentina.

Our 34-time Hungarian men's football champions followed up their 3-1 home win against Cukaricki at the home of Fiorentina, currently fifth in the Italian top flight, in their UEFA Europa Conference League second group match. Head coach Dejan Stankovic fielded a starting line-up of Dibusz - Makreckis, Mmaee, Cissé, Ramírez - Ben Romdhane, Abu Fani, Sigér - Marquinhos, Varga B., Zachariassen in Florence. Our team was accompanied to Italy by a good number of Fradi fans.

Right from the start the home side attacked, but Romdhane was able to clear and then their shot went over. Then Bonaventura's pass would have put Fiorentina back in position, but Cissé blocked. In the 7th minute, Marquinhos intercepted the goalkeeper's pass, our Brazilian could shoot, after the save Varga could also repeat, but the situation ended in a corner, which Fiorentina defended. It was our first serious chance! Three minutes later, a ball was headed back to Bonaventura, who shot over. We led another dangerous attack in the 18th minute, Ben Romdhane put it out to Zachariassen on the wing who looked for Marquinhos in midfield, our player sent it towards goal but his ball was caught. Soon after, Abu Fani tried an effort, caught by Terracciano. Then in the 25th minute we took the lead! Zachariassen won the ball, brought on Ben Romdhane on the wing, who made a great pass to the well positioned Barnabas Varga in the middle and our striker shot flatly and accurately into the goal (0-1)! "We are Ferencváros, hey, hey!" was the chant in the Artemio Franchi stadium. Knowing we were in the lead, we defended confidently and Fiorentina didn't creat much danger at this point either. Yet, in the 43rd minute, Mandragora's flat shot was saved by Dibusz. The Hungarian goalkeeper even took a header in the first half's extra time, so we went into the break with a one-goal lead.

Second half

The home side made one change for the restart, while Dejan Stankovic not substituted anyone in our team. In the 48th minute, Varga would have fought for a penalty, but was already on offside. We were not without incident for long, Varga fought for a corner and in the 50th minute Cissé headed into the goal, doubling our lead (0-2)! Ben Romdhane was then in a great position but his shot hit the crossbar! Ramírez also had an attempt soon after, but Terracciano saved. In the 58th minute the home side made three changes. There was a big scramble in front of goal in the 61st minute, and Bonaventura finally bombed over. González was also on target from distance but was inaccurate. In the 66th minute, Fiorentina equalised with Barák's header from a deflected free kick (1-2).

After the goal Abu Fani was replaced by Besic and Ben Romdhane by Owusu. 20 minutes before the end of normal time, Barák missed the target. In the 77th minute, Bonaventura offered Dibusz a dangerous shot from distance and he had to hit the ball over. González found the back of the net after the ball came out from Dibusz, but he was already offside and we still had the lead!

We made two substitutions in the 82nd minute, with Pesic and Civic replacing Varga and Marquinhos. Pesic, a fresh force, ran his opponent down in the 85th minute and shot on goal, but Terracciano's goalkeeper saved! The Italians also tried, it was a tense game with plus seven minutes of extra time. In the 4th minute the hosts scored an equalizer, Ikoné's strike making the final score 2-2. After two rounds we are on 4 points.

We will continue on 26 October when we host Genk, who beat Cukaricki 2-0 on away goals and are now second on four points in Group F of the UEFA Conference League, on Matchday 3.
