After beating Crvena Zvezda 2-1, our defending Hungarian champions hosted Monaco in their final UEFA Europa League group stage clash at home. For this crucial encounter, Stanislav Cherchesov fielded the starting line-up of Dibusz - Wingo, Botka, S. Mmaee, Paszka - Vécsei, Laidouni - Zachariassen, Gojak, Traoré - R. Mmaee.
First half
Our team started the match and the first dangerous situation did not take long to come: after a masterly pass from Wingo, Zachariassen got behind the Monaco defence, but the Norwegian midfielder's centre was saved by Nübel. Moments later, Ben Yedder headed towards the goal, but his shot was blocked by the goalkeeper.
Half a minute later, Monaco threatened again, but Dibusz saved and Wingo cleared from the edge of the box. In the eighth minute, Vécsei, who had decided the match between the two sides in Monaco, tried a long-range effort but the Hungarian midfielder missed the target. After the initial rush, neither team took any unnecessary risks, with both defences closing down the empty spaces massively.
In the 29th minute, Golovin received a half-height cross from Camara, and after a good cross he headed in, but his right-footed shot narrowly missed Dibusz's goal. In the 31st minute, Ben Yedder fired into the net from a right-wing cross (0-1). Five minutes before the end of the first half, Krépin Diatta replaced Vanderson due to injury.
In the last minutes of the first half, first Traoré's and then Vécsei's crosses were inaccurate and we could not create any dangerous situation. In the minutes of extra time, Zachariassen took a header from a corner, but it missed the target. The teams went into the break with a 1-0 Monaco lead.
Second half
Stanislav Cherchesov made a substitution at half time, with Gojak replaced by Marquinhos.
Ferencváros started the second half with more dynamism, twice in front of Monaco's goal in the first five minutes, and in the 51st minute Ryan Mmaee's shot missed the top corner. Two minutes later, Marquinhos had a shot saved by Nübel. Then, Besic replaced Vécsei in the 56th minute.
In the 65th minute we made another change with Tokmac replacing Pászka. Less than two minutes later, Samy Mmaee gave a great ball to Wingo, who started on the right wing, and he centred well, Marquinhos missed, but Ryan Mmaee was able to shoot, Nübel saved again.
Ten minutes before the end of normal time, Tokmac tried a corner variation but his shot missed the away team's goal. Less than a minute later, Marquinhos fought for the ball on the left wing and Zachariassen fired into the net (1-1).
In the last minutes Monaco tried more, but could not score, so Crvena Zvezda's home win and our 1-1 draw meant that we finished the group in first place and will be in the UEL in the spring.
