Ferencváros played its last international match today in the UEFA Champions League. After many beautiful memories from the qualifiers and the group stage, the result of today’s match against Kyiv was still very important: the winner team could proceed to the Europa League knock-out stage. Our players definitely did not want to quit the dream today and fought hard on the pitch: we had control in most part of the match, created chances, made shots on target and even could have received a penalty when the ball hit one of the home team defender’s arm inside the box. Despite all this, Kyiv scored the only goal of the match in the second half: a crossing arrived from a free kick from the side that Popov headed into the net in the 60th minute.
No matter what, it has been an incredible performance this fall from Ferencváros, we played in the Champions League group stage after 25 years again. We continue in the Hungarian league and in the qualifiers next season! We'll be back!
