DANISH CENTRE-BACK SIGNED
Stefan Gartenmann joins Ferencváros from FC Midtjylland in Denmark.

35-time Hungarian men's football champions Stefan Gartenmann, a 27-year-old Danish defender, will continue his career at the club, becoming our fifth summer signing after Isaac Pappoe, Raul Gustavo, Kady Borges and Philippe Rommens.

- Stefan has been with us for a long time and now we have been given the opportunity to acquire him. He is a very reliable centre-back who is always able to perform at the level we expect. He has a very good character, a very good mentality and a professional mindset, and he can play an important role in the structure of the team. Presentation

The 187 cm tall Stefan Gartenmann was born on 2 February 1997 in Roskilde, Denmark. He started playing football in his hometown before joining Heerenveen in 2013, where he remained until 2017, but did not play for the senior team, although he was a two-time Dutch champion with the U21 team.

He was then signed by Danish club Sønderjyske, where he scored 10 goals in 174 appearances and won the Danish Cup with the team in the 2019/20 season. Gartenmann played the entire final against Aalborg BK, currently in the second division, in a 2-0 win. His Haderslev teammates included Ukrainian international Artem Dovbyk, who in the 2023/24 season played an invaluable role in helping Catalan side Girona to bronze in the Spanish league behind Real Madrid and Barcelona, and qualify for the Champions League group stage for the first time in their history.

He joined FC Midtjylland in 2022, the last time we met in the third qualifying round of the Champions League. The centre-back and right-back Gartenmann has played 38 games for Midtjylland, scoring four times. He spent the 2023/24 season on loan in the Scottish top flight, with four-time league gold medallists, European Champions League (1982/83) and European Super Cup (1983/84) winners Aberdeen, scoring three goals in 45 games.

Gartenmann also played in the Scottish League Cup final, which Aberdeen lost 1-0 to Rangers to win the silver medal.

He has also previously played for the U16, U17, U19, U20 and U21 Denmark national teams, scoring eight goals in total.
