September 29th, 2020 will for sure be recorded as a milestone in the history books of Ferencváros and Hungarian football: on this day Ferencváros qualified for the Champions League group stage after 25 years again. It has been an eventful summer with the victories against Djurgarden, Celtic and Zagreb and then the final challenge against Molde FK from Norway. Last week we played a nerve-wrecking match in Molde and finished with a 3-3 draw which put us in a slight advantage ahead of the return game.
Tonight, we played confidently, controlled the ball during most of the match and created chances in all periods of the game. The Norwegian opponents were just as eager to win and caused danger swifting to a higher pace at certain points of the match, just as in the middle of the first half and in the last 15 minutes of the match. Nevertheless, there was always a green-white player who stopped the attempts, either one of the field players or Dibusz saved a shot in the last second. In the end, Uzuni even scored a goal – from offside – so the result remained 0-0. This did not matter anymore, 0-0 was advantageous for Ferencváros, we qualified for the group stage. Another historic moment for our club, Ferencváros will play in the Champions League group stage this fall.
