It has been in the air for a couple of weeks now: Ferencváros was close to winning the 32nd Hungarian champion title but the team and supporters needed to wait a bit after a number of draws. Today however was a perfect occasion to finally claim the title as our team played the local Budapest derby against the ancient rival Újpest. Although the stadium was empty again due to the pandemic, the supporters gathered at the team bus in the afternoon giving a boost for the team.
No one could complain about the spirit in the play today, our players played in a very offensive spirit and created several chances. Uzuni took the lead already in the 13th minute and two minutes earlier he already scored an offside goal. Then, towards the end of the first half, Tokmac extended the Fradi lead with a nice shot. Zubkov was also close to the goal but the chain of chances was closed by Boli whose powerful shot bounced back from the crossbar. In the second half we created many more attacks and scored one goal: Uzuni scored from a penalty.
With this 3-0 triumph over Újpest, Ferencváros won the club’s 32nd domestic title. We are champions for the third year in a row!
