A MAGNIFICENT HOME WIN IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!
We won 5-1 at home and can look forward to Slovan. - Adama Traoré scored FTC's 100th CL goal.

A week ago, despite playing with a field advantage in Kazakhstan in the first leg of the first qualifying round of the Champions League, we failed to score. After that, there was no question, we had to decide the match at home against Tobol. Stanislav Cherchesov made two changes to the starting line-up in Kostanay this time. Bálint Vécsei and Endre Botka were replaced by Anderson Esiti and Henry Wingo.

As in Kazakhstan, we started with a great chance, but Franck Boli's through ball was fought into the middle and Tokmac Nguen's shot hit the top post, while Anderson Esiti's follow-up was well wide of the target. And in the 4th minute, the goal we had been waiting for finally arrived! After a right-wing Eldar Civic-Tokmac corner variation, the former fired a ball into the middle where our new signing Adama Traroé was superbly on hand to head a nice header into the bottom right corner. 1-0!
With that, our Malian international scored the 100th goal in Fradi's CL-history.
We quickly exploited our field advantage and put ourselves in the lead. Boli was active up front, and on the wings we repeatedly disrupted the Kazakh defence. In the 12th minute we came close to another goal. Kristoffer Zachariassen fought for the ball on the right and passed to Wingo, who looked up inside the penalty area and shot into the middle, but Tokmac missed the ball.

Tobol mostly tried to threaten from a corner, but their attempts were cleared by our defenders from inside the penalty area. However, in the 17th minute Zoran Tosicic's team could take the lead, as Tokmac's brilliant low pass found the onrushing Traore, who calmly curled into the bottom left corner. 2-0!

The goal caught the Kazakhs completely off guard, and one sign of this was when Tokmac's beautiful through ball was played in by Boli, whose flat shot was bravely saved by Alexandr Mokin. The Tobol goalkeeper was helpless moments later. In the 21st minute, Aissa Laidouni fired a masterful shot into the bottom left corner after a fine return by our Ivorian striker. 3-0!

Unfortunately, in the 23rd minute, our defence was shaken which Igor Sergeyev took advantage of and shot into the bottom right corner. 3-1! However, Fradi continued to attack with great energy. Zachariassen's close-range cross was saved by Mokin, and then the Kazakh goalkeeper saved Tokmac's shot. We played confident and calm football, the difference in speed between the two teams was evident. The Kazakh defence could not really cope with the speed of our attackers and the first half ended with Ferencváros leading 3-1.

We started the second half of the game with a lot of energy, but Tobol managed to get into a position, but their attempts were danger-free. Not so Zachariassen's shot which just missed the bottom right corner. Dusan Jovancic's scissor kick was spectacular but wide, but Tobol showed they hadn't given up yet. Although our momentum was a bit lost, we continued to play with a significant advantage in the field.

In the 72nd minute, the Kazakhs scored after a nice attack, but they did not concede the goal. Not so the goal from substitute Fortune Bassey, who fired a shot from close range in the 74th minute from Zachariassen's pass into the goal to settle the match. 4-1!

In the 81st minute, Muzhikov, another substitute, was sent off. In the break, Cherchesov gave a chance to two of our new signings, Mats Knoester and Xavier Mercier, who immediately started with a shot, but it flew wide. In the second half we kept the ball, had several promising chances and the final icing on the cake was scored by Bassey, who scored the fifth goal for Ferencváros in the 91st minute after a great move and pass from Wingo, and we went through with a confident 5-1 win!

Our opponent is already known! In the other leg, despite Slovan being eliminated in the 115th minute at home to Dinamo Batumi of Georgia, the Slovakian champions turned the game around in the last minutes, so FTC will play Bratislava in the second qualifying round, for the first time at home.
