A knockout win against Dinamo Kiev
Ferencváros won over Kiev with a double from Barnabás Varga and goals from Zachariassen and Saldanha.

Our thirty-five-time champion men's football team was back in the Europa League tonight after last Sunday's match against DVSC. Pascal Jansen's side followed up their home win against Nice with an away game at Hamburg sub-tenants Dinamo Kiev. Before the match, both Cristian Ramírez and Dénes Dibusz said that the only goal for our team was to get three points.

Pascal Jansen voted today for a starting line-up of Dibusz - Makreckis, Cissé, Gartenmann, Ramírez - Rommens, Abu Fani - Kady, Zachariassen, Traoré - Varga Barnabás.

First half

We opened the match and had a corner kick in the third minute, after a nice combination Abu Fani's shot went to a corner. Three minutes later, our Israeli international centred, Barnabás Varga headed the ball on, which Zachariassen forwarded onto the goal from half an meter out, but his attempt was no trouble for Buscan.
In the 12th minute, the home side also got on the scoresheet, Traoré blocked a dangerous header from a corner. Two minutes later, our Malian winger passed to Barnabas Varga, but his close range shot was blocked by the Kiev defenders.

In the 16th minute, the referee sent off our opponent's defender Dubincsak after he tripped Makreckis. Five minutes later, Kady dribbled in and shot from the corner of the penalty area into the centre, the ball was cleared by Buscan. Dinamo relied on counterattacks after the red card and in the 23rd minute Ramírez had to block Volosin's shot.

In the 29th minute, Abu Fani tried to score from the left, but Bulashchin saved with great skills. The corner was taken by Kady, and again our midfielder came down the length, and this time his header was saved by the home goalkeeper. Four minutes later, Ramírez was on target from distance, but this time the Kiev goalkeeper easily saved the attempt. Ten minutes before the end of the half, the home side threatened again, twice hitting the top bar in the space of half a minute.

In the 40th minute Kady offered Buscan a hard shot, the ball bounced off the home keeper but no player was in the vicinity. At the end of the attack Ramírez also shot, his shot went over the bar. In the 43rd minute, Karabayev shot over our goal, then Abu Fani pushed Barnabas Varga with excellent pace, but his ball was just long. In extra time, Kady's shot was saved by Buscak and the intense first period ended in a 0-0 draw.

Second half

After the break, we nailed our opponents to the goal, first Kady headed and then Rommens bombed the rebound on target. After the corner, we hit the bar first and then Kady's shot had to be cleared by Buscan. In the 54th minute, the ice was finally broken, Dinamo's defenders misplaced the ball, which Kady struck and then passed to Barnabás Varga, who outwitted his defender and curled a beautiful move into the top right corner (0-1). Two minutes later, we doubled the lead, Zachariassen scored (0-2). Meanwhile, Pascal Jansen had made a substitution, Cisse was replaced by Botka.

Maiga came on for Rommens in the 63rd minute, and Kaján also made his Europa League debut replacing Makreckis. Four minutes later we scored another goal, after Kady's cross Barnabás Varga headed into Dinamo's net (0-3). Two minutes later our national striker was close to a triple, but after Zachariassen's great start Buscsan saved this time. In the 70th minute, Kaján almost got in on the act, hitting the crossbar with his solo shot. In the 75th minute, Barnabás Varga left the pitch, Saldanha came on and Traore was replaced by Gruber, bringing the total number of Hungarian players in the match to five. After the substitution, Saldanha wasted no time, and a minute later hefinished an attack, with Gruber setting up the goal (0-4).

In the last minutes, Gruber missed a free-kick by inches and Kady shot wide of the goal from a corner. Finally, the home team tried to counter-attack, but their finishes were always flawed. This way our team has closed a wonderful night with a memorable 4-0 victory.
