The math was quite simple ahead of today’s match: if we won over Honvéd then we become 31-time Hungarian champions three matches before the end of the season. Honvéd aimed to prevent this happening and ran on to the pitch with massive, self-sacrificing defense. In the first half we had several attempts but at this point the nets remained untouched. Our players did not want to leave any open questions for the second half, so right after the return a huge opportunity opened in front of Zubkov but that was missed. In the 48th minute however there was nothing stopping us anymore: Skvarka’s corner landed at Blazic’s who scored with an accurate header. In the 53rd minute Skvarka made it two with a clever shot. Although in the remaining part of the match we could have scored several further goals, the final result remained 2-0.
This way, with three matches before the end of the season, we secured our first place, the club’s 31st, which is defending the title again after 24 years.
